Blood for Life

In Myanmar, the Central National Blood Bank was established to store pure and right kind of blood group for needy patients. So, the objective of CNBB is to collect blood from donors and to provide infusions to needy patients.
The CNBB, established with lofty aims, not only welcomes the blood donors but also goes to them its own way. When they went to Government Technological College (Thanlyin), which is close to Yangon, officials of CNBB lectured on blood to students and then the blood donation ceremony started. That trip was the second for CNBB and before then, it was to Government Technological College, Hmawbi.

We found that students were willingly giving blood. We have also heard a student saying it was noble in donating blood for the well being of others.
Ma Ye Mon Thant said, “I have never donated blood. So this is the first time. I fortunately got a chance to donate blood as CNBB came to us. At the beginning, I was scared, but I believe that a bottle of my blood, which is a negligible volume for me, is precious for a patient. So I dare to give my blood”.
Since Myanmar is a Buddhism flourishing country, we have to obey Buddha’s teaching in which giving of one’s life is the highest donation out of five charities. Some donors believe that blood donation is a kind of donation of life or life-giving blood.
Maung Naw Aung said, “I have never donated blood. But I had a strong desire to save a patient’s life by donating my blood. I think that we all should do such noble deeds as our country has highly developed culture and custom. I want to donate in the future”.
Some students who had never participated in blood donation ceremony donated blood willingly taking part in such activity after they have seen or head of such charity.
Pyae Phyoe Paing Soe also said “This is my first experience of blood donation. If a patient can survive by getting my blood, I feel happy. It is a good deed. I will continue to donate my blood”.

Blood is essential for a patient. Moreover, supplying pure blood is most important for him. Let us say that people who ask for donation of blood and give blood with goodwill are doing meritorious deeds which can benefit not only for the present life but also in the after life.
