Magway, the capital city of Magway Division in Central Myanmar, is situated on the eastern bank of the Ayeyawaddy River, the main artery of our country. Magway, and another prominent town, Minbu are situated side by side on the Ayeyawaddy River. When you visit Magway, you can travel by car, by air or by boat, whichever means you prefer to travel. By waterway, it is 378 miles from Yangon by road it is 330 miles. |

As soon as you reach Magway, you can see the “Myathatun Pagoda” which looks like a big gold mountain besides the Ayyawaddy river bank at the edge of the city of Magway. You can see that Magway has the Characteristic of a modern city with its well planned municipality and the social economy of the city is thriving. |

When you look out from this Pagoda, you will witness the beautiful city scene of Magway and the dormant volcano named, Na Gar Pwat which is spurting out boiling mud. Because of a continuous mild eruptions of mud, it has gradually transformed itself into a very high hill of mud. |

The direction of lava flow changes every 3 months. At the foot of the Na Gar Pwat Hill, you will see two big snakes, which people believe that these two snakes are the guardians of the hill. |

16 miles West of Minbu, you can find the old city of Laikaing .You’ll find the Kyaungdawgyi monastery built over 110 years ago, and constructed completely with teak. You can also see Myanmar handicraft of wood-carvings and embossing. 19 miles from the North of Minbu, you can visit Pwint Phyu Township, where you can observe Sandaku Nantha Kyaung Pagoda. |

In the compound of this Pagoda, you will find the KudoeSeik and fed the huge fish which are said to be guarding the Pagoda during the month of July to September. |

Mann Settawyar Pagoda, 33 miles from Minbu (Sakku) in Magway Division is one of the prominent Pagodas in Myanmar, people who visit the Sadi will find peace of mind. The Sadi is surrounded by mountain ranges and situated on the rock-mat of Mann river bank which serenely flows pass. |
