Costumes for Myanmar Ladies

Everybody needs clothes for resistance against the weather and keep parts of the body covered as necessary. The more civilized the human habitat, the more attractive clothes are decorated in accord with the conditions of weather and geography. People all over the world have their own distinctive national costumes, which represent their own States. Myanmar comprising of over 100 national races has own national races costumes. Today, we present Bamar costumes, which are worn by the majority in Myanmar. There are separated into two parts. i.e. (Ingyi) for the upper part of the body and (Longyi) for the nether part. |

Now, let me show you how you sew the two designs for ladies such as (YinboneIngyi) or "Myanmar Jacket with an overlapping flaps in front "and (YinzayIngyi) or "Myanmar jacket buttoned down in front." The cloth needed is one metre for each design. First, we take the measurement of the body and cotton cloth, which suits the weather here. Then the cloth is cut and the front and back are attached at the shoulder. Stitch in front called (Dought) which enhances the beauty of the body and makes the wearer smart and tidy. After that, cute buttons are attached. Some are of floral designs. |

This university belle wears (YinzayIngyi) and cotton longyi and flowery buttons are attached to the jacket. A bag woven with cotton is slung over her shoulder. Teachers wear their uniform of white Ingyi and green longyi. Nurses wear the uniform of white Ingyi and red longyi, some wear dark blue longyi according to their rank. Nursing sisters wear green longyi. Some Myanmar ladies wear modernized dress to be up-to-date but mostly ladies wear Myanmar style dress for maintaining the tradition as well as style and beauty. |
