Kyaw Naing Soe
Where did you learn the art of painting?
I joined the University of Culture in 1995, specializing in painting and I had got a painting degree in 2000.
Why are you interested in painting?
I become interested in painting since my childhood, but I had no real intention of painting, then. After attending the University of Culture, I came to realize the depth of this art and become to adore it.
How many paintings are you displaying here?
Altogether I have 12 paintings on display here.
Which kind of pigment did you use?
These are all oil-colours.
Which is your favourite painting displayed here and how did you get your inspiration for it?
My favourite is the one which depicts the scenery of a highland town.
It was drown by referencing a photo, but I changed the colours of the photo. I painted this painting because I was so impress with the beauty of the houses and streets of this highland town.
How do you aim to upgrade the art of painting in the future?
My future aim is to create new subjects and new creativity for my paintings.

Where did you learn this art of sculpture?
I studied sculpture at the University of Culture for 4 years. After graduating in 2002, I continued my study of this art by learning, seeing and hearing from other experienced sculptors. The tutors and lecturers from the University of Culture are my teachers. My actual teacher was U Aung Kyaw who is now an Associate-professor in Mandalay University of Culture.

Why are you interested in sculpturing?
As for me, the art of sculpturing gives me the satisfaction of creating with solid objects to my heart’s content. Moreover, it is a 3-dimensional art which have suddenly appeared to be in fashion, in the outside world.
Which kinds of stone do you use in your sculpturing?
I use marbles and alabaster stones. There is one granite that we got from our field trip to Tagaung. And there is also one clay statue which is unbaked, and exhibited in its original unbaked form.
What is your future intention to upgrade your art?
I have many things I want to do for my art. I want to sculpture more bigger projects. If I am given the chance, I would like to do them.
