Most of the areas in Myanmar are covered with natural green and lush forests. Various kinds of woods can be found there, while Teak and Pyin Katoe, two kinds of ironwood trees are very popular among them. With official permission, these lumber are cut and carried by motorboats from Bamaw, Kachin State to Pabin jetty, Mandalay Region. Floating empty oil-drums are attached beside the motorboat to prevent the boat from capsizing due to the weight of the logs. When the logs arrived at Pabin jetty, in order to carry them to the banks of the river, buffaloes are used. |

As the logs are of various sizes, they are cut into the required sizes. These logs are then tied with iron ropes and pulled by buffaloes from the river to the bank. The buffaloes are coaxed by their drivers by giving gentle slaps on their buttocks or by simply beating the water surface. On the bank, workers watered the grounds to make it smooth for the buffaloes so that they can easily pull the logs. And then, the logs are carried by bullock-carts to the trucks. |

Finally, the logs are transported to the sawmills in Mandalay where they are cut, and then they are sent to furniture makers and construction companies. |
