If you happen to go to the Inlay Lake, situated in southern part of the Shan State by boat, you will pass by an ancient Pagoda named Inn Tain. As you carry on the journey by road, you will come to the little village of Kyar Ton, a very pleasant and nice place to live in.
A Little Village of Kyar Ton

National races residing in Kyar Ton village wear national costumes, which is almost identical to each other. Both the male and female wear turbans on their heads. While the maidens have a piece of cloth hanging from the back of their turbans and the married woman tuck their turbans on their head without any pieces hanging down. Most of the houses at Kyar Ton village are double storey buildings. The lower part of the building is built of brick while the upper storey is of wood. They have roofless balcony built in, and the kitchens are built separately. The people of the village adhere to the Buddhist faith. And they recite Pali verses and parritas in order to ward-off evil, and bad-omen.

And the people of this village farm their land and do trading and weave clothes for their livelihood. A very interesting business you will find in this small village is the casting of bronze figurines. Before they become bronze statuettes, they are first cast into wax moulds and have to pass-through several procedures. You will see a variety of statuettes being made. And the market day which falls once every 5 days is a place teeming with people and local produced goods. You can witness the buyers and sellers are all dressed alike in their traditional costumes and that scene alone will make the visitor reflect upon the lovely and delightful traditions of the people and the village of Kyar Ton.
