Orchids, with its fascinating beauty, have attracted people for many centuries. Orchids, which are considered as the gems of the forest, thrive in groups, and bloom abundantly according to geographical conditions and the weather.

In today's world, orchids play an important role among flower lovers. Orchids do not like other flowers. They last longer than most flowers. Orchids are known as the king of flowers due to their pretty and charming names.

In Myanmar you will find hybrid orchid as well as the Myanmar orchids.
In the village, Myanmar orchids are grown mainly as they have medicinal properties.
Myanmar orchids, like known as in Myanmar Dendobium crepidatum, Dendrobium farmeri, Dendrobium pulchellum, Dendrobium findlayanum, Dendrobium formosum, Vanda denisoniana, Renanthera inschootiana, Ascocentrum curvifolium and Dendrobium cariniferum are mostly grown for the medicinal purposes.

The sprouts that emerged from the stalks are separated, and replanted again. Another method is growing the original orchid stalks on the ground.

Myanmar orchid stalks can be used for medicinal purpose. Myanma Agriculture Service and Medical Research Department will be jointly conducted an experiment on Myanmar orchids in order to produce traditional medicine for the country.

At the first step, out of 20 orchid species, research work will be done on to the Dendrobium pulchellum, which is known as Sinmamyatkwin in Myanmar.

The orchid can be used in the treatment of liver, blood and cancer diseases, and now, will be exported as a finished product in the near future. Thus, it is a golden opportunity for orchid growers.

Myanma Agriculture Service is rendering assistance and distributing the orchid saplings to orchid growers in order to successfully produce Myanma orchids. Necessary measures are also being given to grow orchids in all the 500 acres of Barlar Orchid Village.

Orchids which naturally grown in the forest are grown in people's gardens and homes. And now, they are being used for the benefit of people as they have medicinal properties. Therefore, we must look after these orchids in order to make them become gems of the nation from gems of the forest
