Mandalay Htou Moun or Myanmar traditional glutinous rice pudding is one of Myanmar Traditional food and snacks. Htou Moun is a kind of Myanmar traditional snack which is made of glutinous rice, sugar, coconut and oil. In Myanmar, Htou Moun is commercially being produced from Mandalay and it is very popular and well-known all over the country. Everybody who visits Mandalay buys Mandalay traditional Htou Moun as presents when they return home. Daw May Thet Maw Our Htou Moun Industry was started since the time of my forefathers. So, this industry was established over 40 years ago. In the past, 3 kinds of Htou Moun had been produced from our industry. The first one is “Fruit Htou Moun” which is made with pumpkin kernels, cashew nuts, currants, coconut and peanuts. It is also called “Speical Htou Moun”. Another one is “Cream Htou Moun” which is made with milk cream and butter. The next one which is for elderly persons is made with coconut and sugar only. So, it is called “Coconut Htou Moun”. These three kinds of Htou Moun are mainly produced from our Industry. At present, jelly pudding, cereal pudding, banana pudding, potato sanonmaking and Shwe Kyi sanonmaking are on the market. In today’s program, I would like to present to you how to prepare Mandalay traditional Htou Moun. To study its procedure, firstly, we have to put a large bell-mouthed pan on a wood-burning stove. And put a little oil in the pan. When the oil is boiled, the required amount of water is poured into it. Later, glutinous rice powder is added to the mixture of oil and water. And stir this mixture thoroughly for 45 minutes on the stove. After that, the boiled sugar liquid is poured into the glutinous rice mixture. And stir them thoroughly about half an hour. |

| As soon as Htou Moun has been cooked, the proper amount of stuffing which is a mixture of peanuts, pumpkin kernels, currants and scraping coconut is put into it. After mixing thoroughly it, it is put onto a tray. Then, the stuffing is stuck onto the Htou Moun to be more delicious and look more beautiful. Afterwards, put it into the cooler for ten hours. When Htou Moun is ready to eat, we cut them into proper slices. Next, pack them safely into packets to be last a long time. By doing so, we will get many beautiful packets of Htou Moun which are ready to give present. Fruit Htou Moun, Cream Htou Moun and Plain Htou Moun are marketable snacks. Htou Moun, a Myanmar traditional snack is very delicious and well-liked by all, old and young persons. People of all races and creeds can enjoy these appetizing snacks.
