Hpa-an, lying on the east bank of Than Lwin River is the capital city of Kayin State, 180 miles from Yangon. Kayin State has numerous rock hills and caves. Zwe Gabin Mountain, with a height of over 2,900 feet is the landmark of Kayin State.

If you want to visit Hpa-an, you can travel from Yangon by crossing Than Lwin bridge (Hpa-an), or you can go there via Mawlamyine, across Gyine (Uthraran) bridge and Guine (Zarthapyin) bridge. Natural scenic beauty along the journey is very pleasant.

From historic Shwe Yin Hmyaw Pagoda you will see breath-taking sceneries, such as, Than Lwin River and the brownish mountain ranges on the other bank of the river. You can also observe ancient handicrafr in Kawgoon cave, 8 miles from Hpa-an as will as Bayin Nyi Naung cave, 15 miles from Hpa-an.

It is 861 feet high and 630 feet long. On the walls and in the roof of the cave, you will be able to observe naturally stalactites in various forms of stone palm.

After visiting Bayint Nyi Nyaung cave, you can bathe in the hot spa near the cave. People from this region, believe that water from this spa can cure all kinds of their diseases and they can live a long-life in good health. The hot spa can also relief from pains and tiredness.

On your return journey, you can pay homage to Kyauk Kaluck pagoda, and at the foot of Zwe Gabin Mountain, you can revere the Buddha statues and if you look up the mountain, it seems inviting you to climb onto it.
