The development in these days are the electric power can be generated from paddy husk. I’m happy to see a dispensary and an affiliated B. E. H. S opened in my village. Our posterity can pursue their education there.

Thanks to the canals summer paddy cultivation has increased up to 916 acres compared with 400 acres in the past.
They are the locals of Kyet Paung Village who is enjoying the fruitful results of 5-rural development tasks of the nation.
Kyet Paung Model Village is situated in Pathein Township, Pathein District of Ayeyarwaddy Division. It is located in the southern part of Pathein and has an area of 3.897 square miles. There are 649 houses with 729 households and 3,307 villagers.

If you travel to Pathein from Kyet Paung Village by motor way, it’s 6 miles long. But by water way, the distance is about 7 miles. In 1988, people had to rely on only water way to travel to Pathein and other regions.But now people can easily access to Pathein via Kyet Paung-Yay Ooe Sin gravel road in all seasons. Furthermore, local people can travel smoothly and conveniently to Ya Manay Pin Kai village in the North, U-Do (Owdk) Village in the South and Ma Gyee Kone and Talaing Chaung Kone village in the East via village-to-village earthen roads.

Paddy cultivation is the main economy of the village. There are 5 canals to irrigate farmlands. Thanks to the canals summer paddy cultivation has increased up to 916 acres compared with 400 acres in the past. Kyet Paung Village is reliable on agricultural sector.
At present, farm tractors, water pumps, threshing, hoeing and ploughing machines are used at the farming site of the villages. Besides, the paddy produced from the farms can be milled in the village. So, it is very convenient for the local people.

As bamboo can be extracted abundantly in the village, bamboo basket weaving is a well-paid cottage industry. Moreover, as nipa palm (or) Dhani naturally grows in the region, local people live on making thatch as a cottage industry.
In Livestock Breeding Sector, pig breeding is a major task of the village and quails are also breed systematically as well as chickens and ducks on a manageable scale.
According to the ‘One village one product System’ electricity is being supplied to the village comprising of 500 households through 2-paddy-husk powered generators. In generating electric power from paddy-husk, first, the paddy-husks are burnt in a tube by using machine power. After burning for 15 minutes, the gas emerges and is sent to the generator with which electricity is generated.

In the past, I have never seen the electric light in the village monastery and pagoda. After supplying electric power to the village through paddy husk powered generator, the electric light can be lit at these places. Moreover, I can also after electricity to the every alter light of 200 houses, free of charge. No other business could help me perform such kind of meritorious deed. I chose this business because I want to gain the merit. That’s why, whenever, I see the light, and my heart is filled with delight that I have never felt before.
Today, Kyet Paung Village is illuminating with electricity at night. The locals can relax at night by watching TV, VCD and singing Karaoke to move away a whole day’s tiredness. The students can learn their school lessons conveniently under the bright electric light.
The government has laid down and is implementing ‘exclusive education plan’ for the school-going-age children to pursue education. Nowadays, an affiliated B. E. H. S has been opened in the village. Over (400) students are being conducted in the school by (18) teachers in 2007-2008 academic year.

Ma Thaung Aye

It is more convenient for me because my son can attend grade-11, here living with parents. And it saves as a lot of money. I’m very proud of this affiliated B. E. H. S.
Under the arrangement of the Ministry of Information, Pyinnya Padaetha Library has been also opened there with the aim for the children to be able to study knowledge at their leisure time. The staff from village health care centre are carrying out public health care services for the longevity of the locals, free from diseases.
A telephone exchange office has been established in the village. So, everyone can now communicate with the other in the entire nation.
As local residents are Buddhist devotees, they actively perform in religious affairs. On the significant day of the Buddhists, people in the village including the youths keep Sabbath. As Kyet Paung Village is a village booming in economy, the villagers also actively participate in community welfare tasks.

There is no forced labour in my village. In accord with our traditions, the villagers carry out the benefit and interests of the village by themselves with their own volition.

Over 70 % of the State’s population lives in rural areas. The government is materializing the work programs on supplying electricity in rural areas, establishment of village libraries, besides implementing 5-rural development programs. That’s why, unprecedented progress and prosperity can be witnessed in the Kyet Paung Model Village due to the rendering assistance of the State, systematic management and administration of the Village Peace and Development Council and united and harmonious efforts of local residents.
