A Picturesque resort among Shan Mountain Ranges

A peaceful and pleasant mist-shrouded town, at the top of the plain, natural beauties will everlastingly last in the town located 3605 feet above the sea level. The town popular among people as city of hill-side stairs, Misty Town, flower city or the land of cherry is non other than “Pyin Oo Lwin”, a hill resort town.

Although the town is only 42 miles away from the plain region, the place is different from other parts of the country as if a foreign land. The town is enchanting because of its cool climatic condition all the year round.

Moreover, the town is also called “Master of flower” due to its famous Naitonal KandawGyi Gardens, where colourful flowers are blooming all the time, and it is pleasant with natural beauties and scented with the fragrance of eucalyptus and conifer trees.

National KandawGyi Gardens, which is a glory of the town, was renowned as Botanical Garden in the past. It is 3605 ft high above sea level and 436.96 acres wide. It is a prominent place in Myanmar as tourists and local people are interested to take a rest there happily. The year 2006 saw the diamond jubilee of the gardens as it has been in existence 75 years as a beautiful land with natural forests and trees and colourful flowers are blooming in all seasons throughout successive eras.

The beauty of the arch built with logs in natural shape at the entrance of the garden, captures attraction of viewers.

In the eyes-catching gardens, seasonal flowers, orchids garden, Rose garden, rock garden indigenous & exotic plant and orchid species, aviary and rare species of animals can be seen amazingly. If you want to enjoy the sceneries of the garden without fatigue, you can go round the garden in a buggy. Strolling along the mire track under the dense shady trees will offer you peace of mind.

Inhaling the fresh air, blowing across the bamboo-garden, you can observe various species of Myanmar bamboo. So also, you can enjoy the bird’s eye view of the breathtaking sceneries of the whole garden and also the town of Pyin Oo Lwin.

Under the arrangement of the Ministry of Forestry, National Kandawgyi Garden, acknowledged by Botanic Gardens conservation International (BGCI) of England as an International standard garden, has being existed as a forest museum till today.

Ministry of Forestry is carrying out the tasks with the good aims –

- for the local and foreign visitors to be able to take a rest peacefully,

- for the public awareness on the importance of forests, trees and natural environs

- for establishing a reliable place for botanists, flowers enthusiasts and researchers,

- to preserve and reproduce endangered species of plants and flowers and

- to become an attracting spots for eco-tourists.

During the cool days in Pyin Oo Lwin, you can enjoy the lively picturesque scenes, such as the beauty of water fountain and waterfall together with merrily swimming white and black swans in the lake, while walking on the grass among colourful flower beds and inhaling the fresh air.

Apart from recreation, visitors can also observe the jungle and ecological knowledge in the gardens and will get different experience for each visit.

If people visit to the city of flowers Pyin Oo Lwin most of their time is spent in the National Kandawgyi Garden, enjoying natural forest and colourful flowers due to its enchanting beauties. So, the garden is always teeming with visitors.

Although the seasons cycle is whirling round and round, time & time again Cherries have been blossoming, National Kandawgyi Gardens which is always, beautifying the world with millions of flowers until its diamond jubilee, will exist for many more years as an international standard gardens.
