Taunggyi is situated in Shan State which is one of the 7 states in Myanmar. It is situated in Southern Shan State and it’s the capital. Taunggyi was founded on 15th September 1844. It is 4,712 feet above sea level and it is a cool and pleasant town. It is accessible by road. Taunggyi is surrounded by Nyaung Shwe, Ho Pone, Yat Sout and Kalaw Townships. There are 20 wards and 21 villages in Taunggyi. Now, we are going to present the scenic beauty and the development of Taunggyi. In agriculture works are successful in Taunggyi and neighboring towns. In Taung Lay Lone village tract which is 17 miles away from Taunggyi, 60 acres of rubber plantations are thriving.

These rubber plantations are grown, aiming to make the water shed area of Inlay Lake green and Lush.

Rubber plants are grown with the rate of 217 plants per acre. Alpine coffee (Arabica) plants are grown as mixed cropping method among rubber plants in about 2 acres of land.

Besides, Hsi Tha Pyay or oil bearing trees are also grown because they can offer shade and fire wood. These trees are also useful as the raw material in soap production. Cashew plants are also grown in Taung Lay Lone Camp of Taunggyi.

At No (1) Sugar Mill in Shwe Nyaung, Myanmar Perennial Crops Enterprise is nurturing physic nut nurseries. In forestry sector, physic nut plants are grown at the entrance of Taunggyi and they belong to forestry Department.

Bio-diesel can be produced from these thriving physic nut plants. So, it is also supporting the Industrial sector of Taunggyi.

Moreover, No (3) Forestry Research Camp in Taung Lay Lone under the Ministry of Forestry has been growing an acre of Honduras Panaceas as the pilot plantation since 1985.
