The art is very important in assessing the role of cultural standard of nationals. When music and instruments were invented, dances choreographed to the music came to be. Rakhines, one of the Myanmar nationals, believe in Buddhism and they have music and dances that honour and praise the lord Buddha.
Now, we will present you with the dance, “Offer light to Buddha’” a dance glorifying the honour of Buddha his scriptures and the venerable monks. This song attributes to the respect, to the Lord Buddha, The Dahma and the Sangha.

It also attributes respect to parents and teachers.
The “Drum” is an essential instrument in the Rakhine traditional instruments. You will notice that the drum and flute are given the main parts in this song.
Rakhine music is based on natural songs, such as the song of waves, the roll of thunder, echo the fall of water-drops. Rakhine music sounds are pleasant to the ears and make you fill with yearning. The extraordinary thing in the Rakhine dance is that when they raise their right leg, and right hand in unison, likewise when they raise left leg and left hand also.
The stone-figures found in Shittaung Pagoda built in AD-1535 by King Min Bagyi are priceless cultural heritages. The dance you are seeing now, have been choreographed from the figurines found over at Shittaung Pagoda.
We can truly say that due to the strict maintaining of its traditions and customs, the Rakhine culture will surely outlast and outstand all alien culture and influence.
