Loikaw is the capital of Kayah State, situated in eastern part of Myanmar. Kayah, Bamar and Shan nationals reside in it through thick and thin under the teachings of their own religions.

Kayah State home for the aged located on the union street in LawDham extended ward, Loikaw stand witness to the fact that the town dwellers are taking care of and helping each other. The aim of opening it is to take care of helpless older persons and to help them do meritorious deeds for their cycle of rebirths. Loikaw home for the aged is fulfilling the needs in food, shelter, health care and doing meritorious deeds for older persons who have no one to rely on. So, it is a safe haven for them to live in peace of mind.

In the early mornings, the aged grandpa and grandma pray and practice meditation punctually. It is a pleasant scene for beholders. They practice meditation daily by following the teachings of Lord Buddha that total awareness of one’s body and mind is the only way to avoid evil desire and attain Nirvana.

The mess committee of the home for the aged take care the older persons by feeding and helping in their routine chores.

It is a heart-touching scene to see that the aged grandpa and grandma are giving blessings for their donors before their lunch. In serving the older persons, it is necessary to serve them carefully. That is why, it can be seen that well wishers are donating nutritious foods and snacks according to their age and health condition daily.

The donors are delighted and enthralled by witnessing the service and treatment given to the older persons by the administrative committee.

By observing the way things are kept, every one can know that members of the administrative committee are monitoring the older persons to their utmost efforts and carrying out for the progress of the home

After having their lunch, they take a rest peacefully at their respective halls. They are living a peaceful life by practicing meditation, walking along cooridor and reading the books about the teachings of Buddha.

That’s why, Loikaw home for the aged will continue to exist for many years as a peaceful and safe haven for the helpless older persons.
