Bagan is a city where you will find Myanmar’s own ancient traditional arts and crafts in thousands of pagodas and temples, which had the landscape. Among these many temples we will be introducing intricate the early 15th century’s Myanmar architecture and magnificent plaster carving. The plaster carving in this temple is not molded but an actually carved plaster carving. Mr. Zaw Win, a lacquerware and Myanmar history expert told us about the history and the wonder of this temple. |

This temple is built by king Hsinbyushin and was built in the beginning of 1417. The plaster carvings on the ceiling and on the walls of the temple are mostly well preserved. A witnessing these mark artistic works of art can realize the fact that in Bagan is heading ten Myanmar traditional arts and crafts were practiced and used in building these magnificent temples, pagodas, carvings and paintings. But due to centuries of standing up to hard weather and pillaging much of these wall carvings have been destroyed. You can see one of the little temples and monasteries in the Hsinbyushin complex. This temple was built in 14 century. The architecture of this temple looks like Sri Lanka style. That’s why the bell shape and above the bell shape there is a square relic chamber. In this temple we can see beautiful wall paintings of 14 century. The colours are still fresh, so bright, no restoration and renovation. You can also see the motive and intricate the floral designs of the wall paintings. It is only mural paintings, not like Europe fresco. |

In this programme you can also see monasteries with beautiful architecture of 14 century. It has double wall because the climate of Bagan is very hot and very dry. That’s mean between the two walls; there is a space to keep the hot air to go outside, not to come inside. By that way they can create the place inside to get cool. The architectures are incredible in those days. During the Bagan period we can find three different arches. All of these different arches we can find in those monasteries.
