The Chin State is made up of high mountain ranges, largely dissected by deep valleys. Chin State has to rely for communication on motorways, which are built on concave ascending and descending mountain ranges. During our trip to Hakha, Htantalan and Tiddin Townships of Northern Chin State, we saw one of the extraordinaries, Can you guess what, Oh.Look! you can see the wonderful traditional item of Chin nationals. They usually hew inscriptions on the stone slabs about their endeavours for the livings, their achievements and success in order to leave to posterity and new generations and they put them down as a monument beside the roadway to make sure everyone can see it well. |

They are memorials for the living to remember their ancestors. By observing and studying these memorial stones, everyone can realize their history, interesting anecdotes and traditions and customs. Especially, the attributes of the departed are also recorded. Some memorial stones are being placed as the seat under the shady trees, so the travelers can read the recollection while taking rest. Most of the subjects written on the stones are considered prominent performances of the people for the country, nationality and religion when they were alive. Sacrificing, hard working and having done acts, which won them the respect and inspiration of others, these individuals whose lives are chronicled on stone are truly worthy of high regard.
