The government has been sinking tube wells for the availability of water in central Myanmar with extensive dissemination of education, relating to the greening of the environment, the people are participating in the greening activities.

As Taung Tha hill in Magwe Region is largely formed with rock, greening of Taung Tha hill depends on plantation of trees, conservation of natural forests and the availability of water.

Therefore, green nurseries systematically grown by the Ministry of the forestry as well as the small dams are to be found at Taung Tha hill.

These small dams are being built by the local people on a self-reliance basis.

U Nyein (Gardener, Taung Tha)

The local people have been building these dams since 1996-97. Villagers get water mainly from these dams, which can hold the water until summer. We have also been successfully carrying out plantation with water from the dam built by the government.

Moreover, these dams supply water not only for the villagers but also for birds and animals of the region.

By using water from these small dams built by the generosity of the local people many plantations are thriving. Water is pumped from underground and carried to the plantation fields via pipes.

Consequently, you can see for yourself U Nyein's plantation is green and scenic. Mangoes, guava, lemons and bananas are thriving at U Nyein's plantations. Plantations nearby are also green with seasonal trees, perennial trees and toddy palm trees.

Trees are green where there is water. And where there are green trees, Mountains and forests are lush and pleasant and making climate fine and good. The soil is mountained and therefore enhance the natural environment.

The government and the local people are jointly cooperating to make water available here in Taung Tha.

Taung Tha hill had faced intense heat and dry weather for a long time but in the near future there will be nurseries, natural forests and plantations, which in turn would make the region green and also bring fine weather.
