Union of Myanmar (Kachin State)

The Union of Myanmar made up of various national races. It is a sovereign and independent nation. It is a sovereign and independent nation. The Kachin State lies in the northern part of Myanmar. Highest mountains in the north are always covered with snow.

The population of Kachin State is over 1.2 million. The inhabitants are Kachin, Bamar, Shan, Chin, Naga etc. The capital of the State is Myitkyina.

Paddy is the most essential crop and 75% of the total arable land area is occupied by that crop. In addition to paddy, mustard, sunflower, sugarcane and maize are also ground in the State. The Inndawgyi is not only the largest lake in South-East-Asia but also the one and only tectonic lake in Myanmar.

Jade is mined in Phakant, Haungpa, Tawhmaw, Lonkin and other regions in the upper reaches of U-ru river. Weaving is carried out as a cottage industry.

The most significant Eco-tourist destination is the environs of the Phonkanrazi Region.

This area is also famous for its flora and fauna. Rarest animal species are founded in that region. And can also observe ways of life of village near the PhonKanrazi Mountain over 3,000 ft above the sea level. Most of the villagers are Rawan and Lisu national races.

When you arrive in Kachin State, the place you should visit is Mulasheedi village from Putao, northern part of Kachin State. Mostly Lisu nationals live in this village. Especially, traditions consolidate up to date in the region and national beauty remains infect in the region.

At the time of the Tatmadaw government, in the agriculture sector, total sown acreage of Kachin State, which stood at 360,000 acres previously, reached 560.000 acres.

In the irrigation sector, the government has constructed 4 Diversion Weirs and 2-river water pumping stations in the state.

In transportation sector, total length of roads in Kachin State increased from over 2,000 miles in 1988 to over 2,600 miles today.

A total of 11 bridges each of which is above 180 ft have been constructed in the state after 1988.

Telecommunication system has been upgraded and 13 digital microwave stations have been constructed in Kachin Sate. Auto telephone systems have been installed in Myitkyina, Bhamo, Mogaung, Mohayin and Hopang and those in Shwegu, Phakant and Namti are under way. Satellite communication systems have also been installed in far-flung areas such as Putao, Panwa, Chipwe, Tanai and Sumorabum. A total of 12 rural communication stations have been set up in rural areas.

In education sector, 13 basic education high schools, 17 basic education middle schools, 114 post-primary and 101 primary schools were newly opened. Institutes of higher learning including a university, 2 technological colleges, 2 computer colleges and one degree college emerged in Kachin State where there was only one college previously. In the health sector, number of hospitals in Kachin State, which stood at 35 previously, now reached 43, increasing the number of new hospitals to 8.

As various national races live in Kachin State unitedly. The state is now a peaceful Union in itself and development is in progress.

Kachin State, an integral part of the Union of Myanmar where various national races are living peacefully and amicably in fraternal spirit has made a great head way in development.
