The Union of Myanmar made up of various national races. It’s a sovereign and independent nation. As union spirit, is the basic requirement for the independent and sovereign nation. All national races have been living together based on Union spirit in the Union of Myanmar.

The Rakhine State is situated in the westernmost part of the nation. It is located in tropical monsoon region. The Rakhine State is a sparsely populated area, as its mountainous landscape covered by thick forests. Its population is 2,698,000.

Inhabitants such as Rakhine, Myanmar, Mon, Thet, Khami, Dainet, Maramagyi are residing mountain ranges in the west and north of sit way plain. The total area of Rakhine State is 14,200 square-miles. Sittway is the capital city of the State. The main crop of Sittway plain is paddy.

There are fishing stations in Sittway and Kyaukpyu townships, using modern trawlers in catching prawn and fish at Sea-Most of the catch (fish and prawns) is transported to Yangon. Sun dried salt and refined salt is produced along the coast.

Mrauk-Oo an ancient royal city is rich in interesting historical sits such as Shittaung Pagoda, Htoke Kan Thein Temple and other cultural edifices and antiques.

During open season in the month of October the ancient cultural city Mrauk-Oo in Rakhine State is being visited by foreigners and a great number of pilgrims.

Located on the Rakhine Coast near Thandwe, Ngapali is one of the beautiful beaches in Myanmar. Ngapali Beach is an hour flight from Yangon. It is an unspoiled beach stretching over 3 km with blue sea, white sand and swaying coconut palm trees.

At the southern most part of Sittway, there is a view point resort tower, the 1st light house of Myanmar. From there, you can have magnificent view of the surrounding of Sittway, beauty of sea-beach and Bay of Bengal.

The government has been implementing development in Rakhine State. In farm sector, sown acreage was only 861,000 acres but now it increased to 1,080,674 acres. In meat and fish sector, there are now 155,530 acres of fresh water and seawater prawn breeding pond, increased from 60,000 acres. In development of Road and Bridges sector, Sittway Union Highway, 323 miles of Thantwe-Taunggup_Yangon Road, 235 miles of Thantwe-Gwa_Ngathaichaung-Yangon Road and 548 miles of Kyauk Phyu-Yangon Road have now been constructed.

Altogether 1,174 bridges including 25 bridges over 180 ft have been constructed and other 7 bridges are still under construction. In communication sector, telephone exchanges were opened in many Townships. In education sector, there were only 2,391 basic education schools. Now, more 2,820 schools have been constructed. There were only 9,310 teachers. Today, the number stands at 11,882. Previously, there was only Sittwe Degree College. Now, Sittwe University, Sittwe Technological College Kyauk Phyu Education College and Sittwe Computer College are emerged. There are now 225 University teachers ranging from professors to tutors and demonstrators and 17,237 students. In Health Sector, before there were only 6 hospitals now 30 hospitals have been established.

Rakhine State, an integral part of the Union of Myanmar where various national races are living peacefully and amicably in fraternal spirit has made a great head way in development.
