A Day in Yangon, Zoological Garden

Today, we'll visit " Yangon's Zoological Garden", which will be of great interest for tourists who come to visit Myanmar. The Zoo was inaugurated on the 25th of January 1906 and it has an area of 69025 acres.

Because of an animal exchange programme, all kinds of animals from around the world including rare species are on display here.

In the Yangon Zoological Gardens, you can find Myanmar native deer that usually stay in groups is called golden deer.

You can also see dark-brown deer with white spots that inhabits only in the Southeast Asia.

The African born hippopotamuses are now happily living in Myanmar.

The 4 years old female giraffe is the African native and has long and outstanding necks.

The rare white bear is very significant among the Asian black bears was caught in Kachin State.

Now, you are viewing Great Hornbill with bright yellow beak is one of the families of Great Hornbill.

The largest land animal, the elephant used to draw the affection of both the young and old alike. The children's favorite is the 8-month old female elephant.

All visitors to the zoo are very interested in watching the Bengali Tiger, showing off his prowess on the green lawn.

This lion is 7 year old and was sent to Myanmar under the animal exchange programme.

You can also study the crocodile, reptile animal, that usually move slowly in normal condition. It pays much attention in waiting and approaching to the prey and catches it very quickly.

Now, we are seeing the very cuddly and cute red panda from Myanmar. This one here is three and half years old. She has very soft fur, and she is red from head to tail and her chest is totally black. We brought her here from the Kha Kha Borazi forest reserve, Putao Township in Kachin State, northern Myanmar.

The next rare animal you will witness is the 19 years old Tarkin, called "Mon Mon", which is found only in the Putao region in the Kachin State, northern part of Myanmar.

Now, here is the red goral, which is a species found in Myanmar. This red goral is a male. Besides finding the red gorals in Myanmar, you'll also find them in Thailand, northern India and Southeast region of Siberia.

Another interesting species of animals from Myanmar is the clouded leopard. He is 4 years old. Clouded Leopards are found only in the Asia Continent. They habituate the trees in the dark forest of the continent. In Myanmar, you will find them in mountain forest 6,000 feet above sea level. Being carnivorous animals, they move at night. They prey only on small animals, including monkeys and birds.

Like other international zoological gardens, there are lots of cool shady trees and recreational zones for the visitors. In Yangon's Zoological Garden, they have miniature care to takes visitors around the zoo, and a big playground where old and young alike can enjoy themselves. A swimming pool, an astrosuinger, an exciting roller coaster ride and the enterprise are ready for everyone to enjoy. And, there are also the trabant, balloon cycles and mini-train for the joy- ride of the children.
