Pyay is one of the famous cities in Myanmar and located in Bago Division, near the bank of Ayeyarwaddy river, the biggest and the largest river in Myanmar and also an economic artery. When you look at on each side of the river you will see many pleasant scenery and when you look at the mountain ranges, you will experiences many pagodas built in the mountain.

Akauk mountain is situated near the bank of Ayeyarwaddy river between the southern most part of Pyay District and northern most part of Hinthata District can be reached by water way from Pyay. When you arrived at Htonbo Village, Padaung Township, you have to travel 30 miles to get to Akauk mountain.

Now, I will present you, one of the amazing places where many Buddha Images were carved on the mountain site, near the bank of Ayeyarwaddy river. Akauk mountain has green forest cover and it is very pleasant place. This place is the peak of Akauk mountain which is situated between Bago Division and Ayeyarwaddy Division.

This mountain is the auspicious land, filled with historic ShweMyintin Pagoda as well as other pagodas and religious edifies. Moreover, there are ravines, gorges, streams and natural scenic beauty for visitors to relax and recreate. This Buddha Images are believed to be carved about many years ago.

These have been carved by artistic craftmen who traveled along the river while doing their business.
