Myanmars Ancient City Bagan

Bagan founded in 874 A.D is pivotal when we talk about Myanmar’s ancient cultural heritage and at course it was the pinnacle of Myanmar’s glory and greatness.

Bagan is located on the eastern bank of the Ayeyarwady river. Also being the capital of the first Myanmar Empire built by King Anawrahta was the place and the time, when Theravada Buddhism flourished in Myanmar.

Bagan covers an area of 42 sq.km containing about 3,000 well preserved pagodas and temples of the 11th to 13th century.But according to ancient chronicles ,Bagan had 2,217 buildings of religious significance.

You can bind many ancient Buddha images of 11th century architectural designs, ancient stone manuscripts, mural wall paintings and beautiful and intricate stone-carving techniques which after visiting one can really wish the cultural heritage of this splendid archaeological sites.

Bagan is the most amazing sight-seeing destination in Myanmar. There’s an abundant archaeological treasure, for archaeologists and tourists alike.Moreover in many respects the most remarkable ancient religious sites can be found in the world.
