The government has been making strenuous efforts for bringing about economic development of all regions in the Union as well as promoting the living standard of the entire people. Under the leadership and assistance of the Government, efforts have been made for development of border areas.
One of the tasks, opium substitute cultivation had been undertaking for eradication of narcotic drugs in border areas. These anti-drug activities are meeting with success. Development of Wa Namptip region in Wa Special region-2 is strong evidence of opium eradication activities. In the past, Namptip was a small village with 25 huts and now full of brick houses in thriving.

Cultivation of paddy, rubber, corn, lychee, and other crops are being carried out in the region and plans are underway to build a candy factory and rubber finishing plant in Namptip. Moreover, opium substitute crop plantation of 500,000 rubber plants and 220,000 lychee plants are thriving.

Another regional development program is exploration of natural resources. There are 2 miles Kyinchan and Farling in the region. These are the result of energetic efforts of Wa national races leaders whose desires are to wipe out poppy cultivation in the region in 2005.

The development of Namptip region means that of the Union and the Government will continue to provide assistance in agriculture, livestock, education and health sectors in Namptip, Mangmaw, Kwinma and Pansan regions. These accomplishments are clear manifestation of true sincerity of the Government and its noble desire.
