The New Century Biotechnology Development has been opened for the public with the aim of giving knowledge and awareness of biotechnology to the public.

- to establish peoples, private partnership enterprises in the Universities for the development of research activities

- to establish conservatory and nursery for the ex-situ conservation of rare, endangered and endemic species

- to create research projects for the production of various useful products for mankind by using biotechnology

- to sustain environmental resources for further generations by using biotechnology

- to contribute technical training and consultancy services in the field of plant systematic and tissue culture technique.

In order to implement the prospects of higher education sector in long-term project of Ministry of Education and to attain and disseminate the knowledge and technical know-how of bio-technology, Zoology and Botany Departments of Yangon University jointly opened the “New Century Bio-technology Development Centre” on Inya Road, Yangon.

By opening the New Century Bio-Technology development center, upgrading of education sector with the cooperation of expertise and entrepreneurs can be made, research arena can be expanded with the use of bio-technology and continuous development of natural environment can be possible.
