Blind School

The one who has already completed with good condition of five senses named seeing, hearing, touching, smelling and tasting, will enjoy a happy human being life. But there is a need to encourage and help those who have lost one sense, seeing or sight unfortunately in order to strive along their lives with full energy instead of feeling despair. A training school for the blind in Kyi Myindine Township, under the Department of Social Welfare, is a place that fulfils the special needs of the blind children. |

The training school for the blind was established in 1914 and started with a few blind students. At present, over hundred blind student are learning necessary skills for their future lives under the guidance of (36) staffs including (11) teachers. |

The major objective of this school is to reduce and eliminate the inferiority complex and to achieve the senses of self-reliance and self-confidence. |

The blind students are being provided with primary education using Braille. The Braille is the most important method in learning literature for them and they can learn all subjects by using Braille. |

It can be seen that the educated blind persons are handing over their knowledge to the blind children who are in the same boat. After completion of the primary education, the blind students are sent to the State Middle School, State High School and respective Universities to continue their education in accordance with the inclusive education system. By doing so, they can learn daily activities themselves and also can relate to normal social environment smoothly. |

Moreover, to get abreast with the international education standard, they are studying their lessons using Braille computers. Though the blind person's lives seems covering dark because of lost of sight, they can know all over the World with the senses of hearing, smelling, touching and tasting. |

Aiming to promote their knowledge, a Braille literary has already opened in the school. Therefore, they can study optional subjects based on their interest in leisure time. Regarding to vocational trainings, can and bamboo work, wool knitting and knitting bags are being provided them. |

In addition, Myanmar and Japanese traditional massages are being taught. Therefore traditional massage rooms have been opened as income generating programme for the school. |
