Butterflies are delightful to behold. Colourful and bright, with intricate designs or well-camouflaged they dart quickly among the green leaves or sit daintily on flower petals as they suck up the nectar for nourishment. There are many butterfly species in the world and Myanmar is home to many of them. Butterflies Garden at the Zoological Department of Yangon University is one of the places where screening measures are being carried out to protect the loss of baby butterflies. |

To look like nature, trees are planted and drinking ponds are built for the Butterflies thus letting them easily pollinate and multiply as they do in the wind. There are six steps from an embryo to a full-grown butterfly. Butterflies are born naturally in the wild or artificially born with the help of humans. |

A team of 13 researchers from the University had begun collecting butterflies for the garden in Yangon and surrounding areas. It is the first such collection of live butterflies in Yangon.
