Shwe Kyin is located near Sittaung River known for its favorable climatic condition and its fertile and cultivable land with Shwe Kyin Creek and Kyaukgyi Creek flowing beside it. 80 percent of local populace engages in gardening citrus and pomelo. And that is why; Shwe Kyin is well-known for its produce of citrus and pomelo fruits.Citrus are commercially cultivated in plantations on hills and at Ale Kyun village, in the east of Shwe Kyin. Local produced citrus are traded on the barges on the river bank after being carried along the Shwe Kyin Creek. Shwe kyin is famous for its gardening of citrus and its production of dry citrus, citrus jam, and preserved citrus pulp. |

To make preserved pulp, first, the fruit is washed and cut into four pieces. Then, the pieces are salted and put into bags and baskets. Two months later, the salted citrus pieces are laid out to dry. The air nearby is filled with the sour and appetizing smell of dry citrus spread on bamboo rack built on the river bank, attracting passers-by to come over and taste the freshness of the citrus which brings instant freshness to the mind. Dry citrus which have to be well-preserved for a long time are transported around Myanmar, including big cities like Yangon, Mandalay and Mawlamyaing.To make citrus pulp, dry citrus are washed to remove salt. |

Then, they are cut into small pieces, in some cases, some use machines to shape them as they desire. After drying then in the sun, they are finally packed with plastic bags. Now, here is the appetizing citrus pulp ready to be taken.It is usually good to give these as gifts and is a popular local product among Myanmar people. |
