Agriculture is our nation’s main economic structure. All should strive for development of agriculture as the base and all round progress of other sectors of the economy as well as in accord with the economic objective laid down by the State.

Harmonious efforts are required for the success of agricultural development tasks such as extending the sown acreage and boosting per acre yield as the success in nation-building endeavours can be ensured only with the collective efforts of the Government, the people and the Tatmadaw.

As much as progress has been made in the agriculture sector capital gained from the sector will be used in implementing basic industries needed for national development. The modern and developed nation can be built only when the forces of agriculture and industrial sectors can be combined.

We are striving to develop the nation with leaps and bounds. It is aimed at leaping for ward through the industrial might. The Government of the Union of Myanmar has formed the Myanmar Industrial Development Committee with the following objectives-

(1) to develop agro-based industries

(2) to raise the quality and quantity of industrial products

(3) to produce new machinery items

(4) to produce machines, parts and tools for industries and

(5) to obtain good foundation for turning the Country into an industrialized nation.
