e-Education in Myanmar

Since developed countries have prospered through pursuing Knowledge-base economy, all countries are investing in Education-base development more than ever. Both in the basic and higher education levels, the e-education system in Myanmar have been embarked on 1st January 2001. To acquire learning and teaching opportunities through modern information technology, schools are opening multimedia classrooms. Higher education level students have access to information technology learning centre, electronic resource centre, computer training centre, multimedia resource centre and language lab in States and Divisions through the electronic data broadcasting system. |

With the co-operation between Ministries of Education and Information, multimedia classrooms have been linked up with a computer network. By using information technology, teaching is conducted throughout the country. There are now altogether 203 centers in Myanmar. People can learn school lessons in advance technical know how from computer and television through the Internet. New Century Resource Centre (NCRC) has been linked up with software engineering, hardware engineering, network engineering, computer training centre, language lab, e-education resource centre and e-library electronic resource centre. |

Moreover, there are multimedia electronic equipment and production of CD ROM which are useful as teaching aid equipment for basic and higher learning. Therefore, Myanmar has undertaken promotional measures to upgrade the national education and create a learning society in conformity with the developing international arena. |
