The 3-pagoda triplet is one of the most significant buildings of Bagan. The pagodas are small and are similar in shape and style. The 3 pagodas are joined together by narrow vaulted passages. There are interesting paintings on the walls and ceilings of the eastern pagoda and part of the middle pagoda. The western pagoda have no paintings at all. Some researches think that the pagodas were left unfinished because people fled the country when Mongol Tartars invaded Bagan or the donor had life and death matters to abandon the site before completion.
