The Nant Tain creek flows around the Kyaing Toung region and forms into the Kyaing Toung waterfall which in turn flows into the ThanLwin River at linkhae township.Hydro electric Power Department under the Ministry of Electric Power is carrying out the hydro-electric power project by harnessing power from Kyaing Taung natural waterfall.

The water inflow area of Nan Tain creek is 2,325 sq-miles and annual rainfall is 50 inches and the water current is 3,500 ft/sec. the Hydro Electric Power Department is making pre-construction preparations for the Hydro Electric Power plant project when the project is completed, it will generate 472 million kilowatt hours per year with the use of 54 megawatt-genators.

The hydro electric power factory will be build at the base of the waterfall, in order not to destroy the natural beauty of waterfall. Natural resource combined with human prowess and capability will assist in the fulfillment of the needs of mankind. When the project is completed, electricity will be supplied to all the regions of Shan State, thus assisting in the development of the region.
