At the entrance to the town, there is Myo Oo Pagoda of Kyauktalone. The PaO nationals of respective wards are here for holding a traditional collective ceremony of offering “Hsoon” to the pagoda. The most beautiful damsels of the wards carrying large lacquer bowels with food on their heads lead to the procession followed by a troupe of Ozi or long drum players and the public. As the procession arrives the pagoda it goes round it thrice. Later, nine variety kinds of Hsoon and fruits were offered to the pagoda and prayed for health and wealth of all is a significant view depicting their faith in Buddhism. The grand ceremony of offering Hsoon in Kyauktalone illustrates the simple nature of PaO nationals, preserving traditional culture and their participation in religious and cultural aspects joyfully and in unity. |
