Lei Gaing Monastery with Wooden Statuettes

The best place to study Myanma wooden crafts and architecture in one setting is none other than Lei Gaing monastery with wooden statuettes situated in Pwint Byu Township, Magway Division in central Myanmar.It was built in AD 1883. Four corners of the monastery were decorated with carvings of Myanma traditional floral aera’besk. |

Timber was used for main pillars of the monastery. Seven tiers of roof were embellished with statuettes depicting stories of the Lives of Buddha. |
