Moyingyi Wildlife Sanctuary

Forty sq-mile wide Moyingyi Willlife Sanctuary is one of wet lands located in Bago Township, Bago Region. Where there are 110 species of Birds.Some birds migrated from nations of the North in order to escape the Winter Cold.

When winter comes, such Birds inhabiting the Northern hemisphere usually migrate to the warmer South like Myanmar. There usually came here at the end of October and leave in Summer.Of the 48 species of migratory Birds, the famous are Asian Billed stork, Black headed ibis, Sarus name and Pelicon.

Besides these, 50 species of continental birds including Framings and Bee eater come here.Other 14 species of water birds such as lesser Whisling druk, Purple swamp her and Pond heron also come here.

Although it is a sanctuary for Birds, the local dwellers are make their livelihood through fishing and by trapping prawns.

This Wildlife sanctuary is not only the place for migratory Birds, water Birds and contimental Birds but recreation for Bird watchers and relying place for village folk.
