The National Museum (III)
The National Museum situated on Pyi Road, Yangon is a five-storey building and showrooms are divided into 14 compartments.

On the second floor, there are showrooms displaying Myanmar traditional folk art and Myanmar performing arts. In the folk art showroom, crafts and articles relating to religion, travel, weaving, toddy palm work, utensils and toys are displayed.

Ten kinds of Myanmar traditional arts and crafts are blacksmith, gold and silver smith, copper smith, stucco, masonry, wood or ivory carving, stone sculpture, turnery, painting and lacquerware. You can observe the gilded lacquer receptacle with cover, adorned with glass mosaic work.

In the showroom of Myanmar performing arts, pieces comprising Myanma orchestra, musical instruments of the national races, photos of ancient musicians and also Myanma marionettes are shown.

On the third floor, there are three showrooms: namely, Myanma Art Gallery-1, Myanma Art Gallery-2 and Myanma Ancient Ornaments showroom. In Gallery-1, copies of ancient paintings from Padalin cave, copies of murals from the Bagan, Inwa, Amarapura, Konbaung and Yadanabon periods, the paintings of ancient and modern painters are exhibited. In Gallery-2, oil paintings of ancient 550 Jatakas are displayed.

In the Ancient Ornaments showroom, ornaments of ladies in Pyu, Bagan, Inwa and Yandanabon period are exhibited. On the fourth floor, showrooms of Buddha Images and Culture of National Races are exhibited. In the Buddha Images showroom, Buddha images and votive tablets from Pyu, Bagan, Pinya, Inwa, Taungoo, Nyaungyan, Konbaung and Yadanabon periods and modern days are exhibited.

In the culture of National races showroom, models of national races with traditional costumes, musical instruments, professional equipment, arms and cultural artifacts, books on culture of national races are shown.

The National Museum is indeed informative and a show case on the life and history of Myanmar nationals that can satisfy any inquisitive visitor.
