Naga Traditional Cultural Showroom
On 14th of January, 2002, Naga handicrafts and traditional cultural showrooms were opened in connection with Naga New Year Festival at Lahe’ sports ground.

The handicrafts showroom displayed pottery, blacksmith and traditional crafts of bamboo, rattan, leather and fur. The showroom displayed looming earthen wine pot and also bamboo baskets and containers.

The cultural showroom displayed items such as necklaces, bangles, earrings, head-gears, foot-wear, clothes, blankets, shawls, household utensils, working tools and implements, handloom and accessories, weapons and gad gets for fishing and hunting.The necklaces include beads made of bronze, sea shells, canines of tigers and bears, and tusks of boars and elephants.Bangles are made of silver or bronze. Some arm bands and bangles are made for the purpose of warfare and hunting.

Earrings are also made of silver and bronze. There are also earrings made of hair.Look at the head-gears. Rattan hats, bamboo mats are displayed. There is also head- gear adorn with mython’s horns.

The clothes include male jackets, female shawls and blankets and shirts for various occasions. Loin cloths, some adorn with cowries, beads and bronze cymbals are displayed. Shin-guards for men adorn with cowries are also displayed.

Household utensils include earthen pots, bowls and pans. Plates, trays, cups, spoons and bowls made of bamboo, rattan, wood, dried gourd and bronze are also displayed at the showroom. Wine containers and cups made of bamboo and mythons’s horns are also displayed.

The traditional handlooms together with cotton ginning and spinning gadgets are also shown. Fibres for weaving shawls and blankets are interesting.Our brethren, Naga people’s traditional culture is amazing and breath-taking for every visitor.
