In the South-Western most point of Myanmar, there is a beautiful beach named Ngwe Taung, which is situated in Zigyaing village, 7 miles from Mawtin point pagoda, Pathein District Ayeyawady Division

You can go to Zigyaing village by car or bullock cart from Mawtin point pagoda. The Ngwe Taung beach is crowded with many visitors at the time of Mawtin point Pagoda Festival held in March.

There is also wellknown cape Naygayay near Ngwe Taung beach. The mountain range with Cape Naygayay, jutting out into the Bay of Bengal is famous among the locals as Akyaw Gyi mountain. Another name is silver mountain because silver lodes were once dug there.

There is Ananda Zina Aungdawmu Pagoda on the rock which also juts out into the sea and famous as Ngwe Taung pagoda. The visitors come and offer flowers and water to the pagoda and pray for good fortune.Then, you can take rest and recreation, swimming, surfing and playing games. Surfing and drinking coconut milk are a pleasure to the visitors.

On the way to the seashore, you can see regional products and can buy them cheaply.The scenery of Ngwe Taung beach and the fresh air across the sea make the visitors relax.The people in Zigyaing village are mostly Rakhine nationals and they are honest and hospitable. Their main livelihood is fishery. Then they earn harvesting coconuts and gardening. So, every visitor can study the people’s life-style.
