Myanma Ancient Ornaments Show Room

Myanmar women treasure gold metal as personal adornments for ages. Throughout Myanmar history from Pyu through Bagan, Innwa and Konebaung Periods, Myanmar women wear gold in beautiful designs and fashions to shine their beauty.

Gold ornaments are designed to adorn head, ear, neck, arm, wrist, fingers, waist and legs. For coiffeur, hair pin, comb and crown are made of gold.

To adorn the ear, ear-drops, ear-ring and ear-plug ornaments are made. Eighteen Century AD, Konebaung Period ornamental ear-plug --- A cylindrical Pyaungyee ear-plug. Here again are displayed two pairs of ear-drops and ear-ring. Another display is plain gold chain, necklace, pendant and beads. You can study a beautiful collection of gold pendant, choker with small pendants and Pyu gold beads of (First to Ninth Century AD) and angle’s trumpet flower-shaped beads. The next is a gold pendant of Konebaung (Eighteen Century AD). Besides, here are gold ornaments for arm, wrist and finger. This is a gold ornament with intricate design of a flying dragon.

These are Pyu period bracelets of (First to Ninth Century AD). Some are in plain and some are in cogwheel or in coil spring designs.
The next is a collection of rings such as gold sealed-ring, gold cop ring, lion figured ring, Sixteenth Century AD lion figured ring encrusted with precious gems, gold rings figured with male and female Monoke-Thiha ,meaning “Half Man-Half Lion”, are shown.You see these are golden belt encrusted with gems and jewels.
Another collection is golden anklets. These collections of gold adornments at the National Museum depict the high standard of the art of Goldsmith and Myanmar’s rich cultural heritage.
