Pagoda Festival in Central Myanmar

Myanmar is a land of many pagodas and stupas. The pagoda festivals are being held annually. The Arnandar Pagoda festival in Bagan is a significant one in central Myanmar, Nyaung Oo District, and Mandalay Division. The Pagoda festival is held with the grandeur of Myanmar traditional culture.

The Anandar pagoda festival in Central Myanmar is celebrated for about 7 to 15 days. The celebration time is in the new harvesting season while the farmers earn much income. The farmers from far and near visit the festivals together with their families by convoys of bullockcarts to participate in the festivals from the beginning to the end. They encamp in a spacious ground near the pagodas. The devotees donate morning offerings to the pagodas and stupas. They also offer “Hsoon” to members of the Sangha with devotion. At lunch time, the visitors take their lunch family - wise.

At the festival, you can also buy regional products which include glazed earthen pots, toys, blankets, circular stones for grinding “Thanakha”, stone mortars, lacquerwares and other accessories at reasonable prices. The visitors to the pagoda festival also buy their requirements at the festival market. People from rural areas visited the pagodas festival and paid homage to the pagodas and people from abroad studied the festival with keen interest.
