Travelogue ( Pyin Oo Lwin )

Visitors can proceed from Mandalay to Pyin Oo Lwin the hill side resort which is over 3 thousand feet above sea level. It takes about 2 hours to travel by car from Mandalay to Pyin Oo Lwin, a 42 mile journey. Cool weather, variety of flowers and breath taking scenic beauty make you refresh. So let's go visit Pyin Oo Lwin.

After traveling 20 miles, we stop over at viewpoint for a while. From here, one can enjoy the beauty of Dokhtarwaddy river which originates from Shan plateau, a bird's eye view of Mandalay and green and pleasant paddy fields. Pyin Oo Lwin is a hill station, so it is an uphill job all the way from Mandalay, with winding roads.

Now, we arrive at 21 mile station. We stop over here for a while. The climate gradually becomes colder and colder and refresh as you climb further up. There are many food shops at the 21 mile station. So you can refresh yourself and have some light food at the station.

From here, we continued our journey to Aung Chan Thar village where a variety of beautiful flowers welcomes you. Beautiful and fragrant flowers and fresh and tasty fruits attract tourists. The climate is getting colder and colder.

After passing through the view point 21 mile station and Anei station, now, we arrive at Pyin Oo Lwin which is over 3,000 feet above sea level. The noted places you can stydy here are Peik Chin Myaung Mahanadanmu Cave, Pwe Kauk water fall, the National Kandawgyi garden and Maha Anthtookanthar Buddha Image. Moreover, you can also study the social and economic situation of local people.

Various national races are residing here and the main livelihood of local people is farming and animal husbandry. You can also see as a modern and developed city although it is a small city. When we proceed from Pyin Oo Lwin, we reach Peik Chin Myaung cave.

To the south of Wetwon village, which is to the east of Pyin Oo Lwin is the Peik Chin ravine that leads to the magnificent Mahanadamu cave. At the entrance to the cave are a natural waterfall spanned by a road bridge and gardens of flower in a riot of colours.

The cave is widely known in the country for the many historical Images of Lord Buddha it enshrines. According to the stone inscription of the region, the ravine was formed about 230 to 310 million years ago and it names is derived form the luxuriant long pepper vine, Peik Chin in the vernacular, thick enough to prevent some light from penetrating that stands at its mouth.

Afterwards, we proceed to one of the noted places Pwe Kauk waterfall. The pleasant waterfall flows all year round. This place is good for going on a picnic. The last place of this travel is National Kandawgyi Garden or the Botanical Garden.

It has been opened with the aim of enabling people to enjoy rest and recreation giving education conducting research and promoting ecotourism industry in April 2001. Previously, it was called May Myo Botanical Garden which opened in 1917. So, not only locals but also tourists should find the visit refreshing.
