The Popa Mountain Park is located in Kyaukpadaung Township, Mandalay Division of central Myanmar. The area of the park is actually the area of an extinct volcano Mt-Popa and its environs.The highest point of the Mt Popa is (1518) meter above sea-level and area of the park is about (129) kilometers.

There are many different forest types in the Popa Mountain park and over 3,000 wood species can be seen in sandal wood forest in the Park, (40) acres wide hard wood (Iron wood Pyinkadoe plantation) formed with (24,000) trees are also grown in the park.It is decorated with more than 100-natural spring waters.Numerous kinds of birds, insects, butterflies, wildlife animals, monkey, deer, wild pig, are inhabiting in this Popa area and drawing large number of tourists, biologists and Scientists. These Park is also famous for its unusual richness of medicinal plants. You can study more than 500 medicinal plants in these nurseries of the park.

You can also enjoy the scenic beauty of the forest by viewing natura along the circular road by motor vehicle.Everybody, might be amazed at the geomorphological setting of Mt-Popa and its attractive volcanoric plug ( Taung Kat Latt ) .

The forest department has been facilitating the Popa mountain Resort which can accomodate 100 vicitors and recreational facilities including golf range, swimming pool, horse riding range, Trekking, Birds and butterflies watching are also available.Therefore, it can be said one of the designated ecotourism sites and well known as the most promising sites among other contries.
