Myanmar is a country with rich natural resources. Among the natural resources, pearls can be found at Taninthayee Division. Orient Pearl Co., Ltd., situated on Zin Yaw Island, Bote Pyin Township, is producing pearl with the cooperation of Myanmar Pearl Enterprise.

The company also makes fiber boats which are used in the work-site. And these boats are also sold to other companies. The nets for breeding oysters are made in various sizes.

The company is breeding, 45 days old embryo by using a laboratory, and then they made breeding, producing and selling.

The adult oysters are cleaned once in two months by taking out with fiber boats. There are 200 oysters in a collector. After cleaning them, they can breed in 3.0 Triangle net and hung down in the water.

Some oysters are bred in the outer of the island. The oysters which are bred underneath the water are taken by divers to clean them.

In 2003 harvesting season, we intend to harvest 50,000 oysters. For the coming year, we will extend our oyster breeding and hope to harvest 100,000 oysters.
