If you happen to travel to the dry zone of central Myanmar in the late summer, there is now oasis-like places in Moneywa Township, Sagaing Division where you can surely feel enjoy the green environs, a balanced climate and at the same time go on a pilgrimage to religious site where a thousand of Bootrees are planted.

You can pay homage to the reclining image of Buddha from a distance. Traveling to the South East of the motorway from Moneywa, you can also see the construction site of statue of standing Buddha lying on the hill top. After completion, it will be quite huge and impressive. You can go to the top of the hill by car and from there view the western part of the 222-ft high reclining Buddha image which was built by the thousand Botrees Sayadaw.

At the foot of the hill, a thousand Buddha images and Botrees were built and planted together. That is why the images are called a thousand Botrees Pagoda.

Because being in the tropic zone, there were difficultly in planting the Botrees at first. But due to the goodwill and efforts of the venerable Sayadaw, the trees are now a sight to behold and add to the greening of the environs of the region.

So, we have presented to you the Botree and its special features. How it can provide shade to people, birds and animals in the hot humid month of May and at the same time provide a green environ for this tropical zone.
