Myanmar people usually valued and wear jewellery as Myanmar is a place rich in natural resources.Nowadays, gems are used not even as things to wear but also used as a decorative painting.Gem studded painting is one in which less value gems are studded on the paintings. It is one of the creations of Myanma handicrafts.

But for gems studded paintings manufactured from Bagan Gift Centre, only jade and lacquer is used. So, they are varied from other kinds of gems studded paintings. Making of these paintings is also interesting. First of all, the pictures (e.g. Scenes, portrait of human or animals) are drawn. And then, the size of gems are selected to suit the picture. Afterwards, gems and jades are glued on the picture.

According to the design, gems and lacquer are used for certain places. Colourful jades of various sizes are glued on the pattern and it makes 3 dimensional views for the viewers. The significant thing about these paintings is that in designing and decorating the picture, all the works are done only by hand not by machines.

These purely hand-made paintings can now be seen in foreign markets and we can be proud of them because these are the creation of Myanmar artists.
