It is amazing to observe totaling 4,446 monuments built by Bagan Kings, ministers, royal families and people within an area of 19 square miles. Due to the earthquake and human calamities, many ancient monuments were deteriorated, collapsed and turned into brick mounds. With the funds provided by the government and NGO and the public, the Department of Archaeology has done timely Bagan restoration work. This special exhibition "The Legacy of Bagan" we have also notice that it's a special display conservation of chemical, so please tell me about this display. Here in this exhibition, we are giving information on the process of chemical preservation to the visitors. I’m going to explain about the process of chemical preservation, the first is fixing, the second is filling of laconic and the next is consolidation of injection. Another process is cleaning by using chemicals and reduction of the missing surface. An important thing for this process is not to lose sight of the original colors. The last is preservation coating process. |

Please tell me about these mural paintings. If we do not undertake timely measures of conservation and restoration of our cultural heritage monuments, after 1000 years or so, all the monuments will become heaps of debris mounds and we will also become undutiful citizens. Therefore, it is our national duty to preserve, strengthen and restore “The Legacy of Bagan” to last and exist forever. |
