Mandalay-Lashio-Muse Union Highway has been constructed with the objectives of developing smooth and secure transportation, promoting communication, friendship and unity among national races in States and Divisions as well as increasing economic, social and border trade with neighbouring countries.
Project officer-in-charge from Asia World Co., Ltd. Daw Nan Kyar Lee explained about the project of this union highway. The Asia World Co., Ltd. undertook the construction and extension of the Naungcho-Thibaw road section on 17^th December 1997. The origin of the road is 12 feet wide. It is difficulties for cars in transportation. We extended the road to 18 feet wide and 3 feet on each side of pavement. The road is now 24 feet wide. Its endurance has improved. Altogether there are 255 bridges including conduits between the mile post 79 and 123. On the Goattwin road section, there are 14 major bends and 20 curves. Formally, the major bends were narrow for the trucks to turn there. Our company has demolished the stone mountain sides in widening the bends. The mountain sides, we demolished were at least 30 feet to 40 feet height, 100 feet to 200 feet long and from 5 feet to 10 feet wide. We had to use man power and machinery in widening the bends. Thus, transportation has now become more convenient.

The Mandalay-Lashio-Muse union highway including Lashio-Muse road section is undertaking by Asia World Co., Ltd. The total length of the Lashio-Muse road is 103 miles and 4 furlongs between mile post 172 and 275/4. The road is 22 feet wide and 8 feet on each side of pavement.

After completion of the road we have both Theinni-Conglong-Chinshwehaw road which is 66 miles from Theinni region. And then we constructed the Mongyu-Muse road. It is 8 miles and 4 furlongs long between the mile post 175/4 and 284. The road is 18 feet wide and 3 feet on each side of pavement. Later we continue our project of Mongyu-Kyugyoke road is 11 miles and 4 furlongs long and 13 feet wide and 3 feet on each side of pavement. After that our company implemented construction of Muse-Nant Kham road section between the mile post 284 and 306 and 22 miles long 13 feet wide and 3 feet on each side of pavement.

Nowadays, Mandalay-Lashio-Muse union highway construction has already been completed. So we can travel from one region to another up to Muse and Kyugyoke border towns smoothly and conveniently.
