Yangon Zoological Garden has been inaugurated since 1906. Nowadays, it has an area of 69.25 acres. It is a World class zoc where one may observe a collection of animals habitat to Myanmar as well as the World over. |

There are 59 species of mammals, 63 species of birds, 17 species of reptiles on the fauna side. On the flora side, there are over 15,000 trees and plants. |

Chevrotains also known as Mouse Deer, can be found in the tropical rain forests of Africa, India and South East Asia. In South East Asia there are two kind of species, larger Chevrotain and smaller Chevrotain, and both are found in Myanmar. |

Myanmar Star Tortoise is a kind of species found in the hilly region of Myanmar. A very area species of medium-sized (28 cm shell length) tortoise is endemic to Myanmar. |

These ELD'S deer are from the Dry Zone of Central Myanmar especially in the Shwesettaw and Chatthin Sanctuaries. ELD'S deer inhabit scrub jungle on the plains and live in herbs. Antlers are shed in the Middle of August and they have fully formed new antlers in December. |

Yangon Zoological Garden is run with the aims and objectives of, facilitating recreation for the public, educating the public on conservation and research awareness, facilitating student researchers on zoology and Botany, and lastly but not the least facilitating the breeding of rare and endangered species. |
