Yangon Zoological Garden( Part-III )

( BLACK BEAR, ROCK PYTHON )

Yangon Zoological Garden has been inaugurated since 1906. Nowadays, it has an area of 69.25 acres. It is a World class zoo where one may observe a collection of animals habitat to Myanmar as well as the World over.

There are 59 species of animals, 63 species of birds, 17 species of reptiles on the fauna side. On the flora side, there are over 15,000 trees and plants.

BLACK BEAR

Black Bears are widespread all over Myanmar. Their general colour is black with a " V " shaped white patch on chest. Their main food is wild fruits and leaves; they are also fond of honey. Some black bears eat meat. So that they kill cattle for their food.

ROCK PYTHON

The Rock Python is a heavy bodied and colorful animal. A pattern of large, reddish brown blotches outlined in cream or gold overlay a ground color of pale tan, yellowish-brown or grey. They prey upon mammals, birds and reptiles of appropriate size.

Yangon Zoological Garden is opened daily. On weekends and public holidays, special animal shows are featured to entertain the visiting public.
Yangon Zoological Garden is run with the aims and objectives of, facilitating recreation for the public, educating the public on conservation and research awareness, facilitating student researchers on Zoology and Botany, and lastly but not the least facilitating the breeding of rare and endangered species.
